About Jodie McAlpin - mcalp art

  • Biography
Hi, I’m Jodie McAlpin of mcalp art, an expressive nature-inspired portrait and wildlife artist. I am obsessed with nature and how being outside makes me feel. As someone who sometimes struggles with my mental health, I find being out in nature gives me some mental peace. This is what inspires my work, I want to bring that same feeling of peace I get from being outside to you with art on a canvas. I aim to bring awareness to the benefits that nature has on mental health whilst creating bold and unique art that is both captivating and therapeutic.
My art creating process starts off with fun chaotic energy to create expressive initial layers of paint on the canvas, using fluid acrylic and spray paint to paint my feelings and emotions before then deciding on a subject for the painting. I work mainly on canvas and use various forms of acrylic and finish my paintings in oil.
