Biography
I paint particularly the edges of things, from the sharp contrasts of the grit stone cliffs of the Peak District to the cliffs and coast around the UK.
I work by walking and sketching outside, absorbing the atmosphere and working up my observations into paintings in the studio. I use a variety of media depending on the subject matter and like to constantly experiment, not being fixed to a particular style. My work is constantly changing - with my mood, the weather and my environment.
Recently I have been focussing on the tension between water and land exploring the luminosity, colours and semi-abstract patterns created by water - in rock pools, streams, seashore and breakers on rocks and cliffs at the margins of the sea - and following the patterns of erosion caused by time and the elements.
My work has been exhibited widely in galleries and private collections throughout the UK and is particularly popular with walkers and climbers.
