About Svetlana Iskoskikh

  • Biography
Svetlana Iskoskikh was born in the Urals in 1988 and now lives and works in Moscow.

She started drawing as a child and won awards at many drawing competitions. She graduated with honors from a children's art school. Then she studied architecture at the Ural State Academy of Architecture and Art. She received Bachelor's and Master's degrees in architecture. For 5 years she worked in the bureau as an architect, designing buildings and house interiors. However, she chose painting as the goal of her life and does not regret her choice at all. Now Svetlana fully devotes herself to painting, and this is her main job and vocation.

She began her active creative and exhibition activities in 2021. In 2022 she became a member of the Professional Union of Artists of Russia. Since 2021 she has participated in more than 15 group exhibitions and fairs.

I spend most of my time reflecting on the theme of finding joy in everyday life and finding a foothold in an unstable world. In my practice, I often engage in an exploration of memory and the search for inner support. In many of my works I juxtapose two styles: realism, which brings us back to painting, where every detail is worked out with care, and minimalism, which simplifies form and color, leaving room for the viewer's creative interpretation. An important task for me is to study the influence of color and subject of a painting on the emotional state of the viewer.
