Biography
The study and portrayal of beauty, both natural and man-made, is Iris' inspiration and aspiration.
Iris' oriental-inspired still lifes celebrate vibrant colours and elegant forms found in daily life. Her series of sketches after classical sculpture pays homage to the old masters. In her portraits, Iris achieves not only a physical likeness, but captures the unique mood and character of the sitter.
Iris is a keen tango dancer and has accepted commissions to paint portraits of tango teachers and tango couples.
Iris was a student of the prestigious Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, where she obtained her diplomas in drawing and painting and received the Henry Gibbons Art Prize in 1984.
Iris is happy to accept commissions for portraits, still life, landscapes and sketches.
