Mikhail Inkov is a contemporary Belarusian artist who works in monumental, easel, and memorial sculpture mainly in bronze and granite. Inspired by the smooth forms and the weightless solidity of the works of Constantin Brancusi and Ernst Barlach, the artist strives for integral forms and stylized contours in his own work. His use of sterile lines and the ease of his sculptural language are reflected in a series of easel sculptures, “The World of Love,” which Mikhail Inkov has been working on for a long time. The female and male figures that form the basis of the artist's sculptures are transformed into a multitude of metaphors. The ductility of the bronze allows the artist to create malleable homogeneous forms. Drawing inspiration from the content embedded in them, the artist either polishes the surface of the sculpture to a mirror shine or intentionally leaves a slight roughness and angularity. When he works in granite, Mikhail Inkov does not try to hide the natural properties of the material, adding refined bronze details to the roughly processed stone. Inspired by his study of the dialectics of peace and movement, the artist seeks to expand the boundaries of his fanciful plastic forms. The slippery rhythm of his sculptures projects the forms into the exterior space, while at the same time they exude peace.
