    Hello πŸ‘‹

Here I am in my happy place, paintbrush in hand, spotty red mug of tea nearby, brush in hand and listening to the sounds of the outdoors as I work 😁🎨

    All walls need colour!

    All walls need colour!

Nothing says "happy" quite like an original piece of colourful art. A tiny brush and a palette full of reds, greens, yellows and blues to revel in are the starting point of all of Imogen's work,

    Flowers, flowers and more flowers!

Endless colour combinations, patterns upon patterns and tiny little details abound in Imogen's paintings, filling the canvas with happiness and bringing colour to walls everywhere!

    Meet the Artist

    Meet the Artist

Imogen Skelley is a UK artist based in East Sussex. She gained a Fine Art degree from Wimbledon College of Art in the 1980s. She is driven to paint the beautiful countryside in and around her hometown, finding particular inspiration in the colours and random yet repetitive patterns in hedgerows and fields. Equally, flowers with their incredible blooms "stuffed" into vases and jugs give her plenty of food for thought when she is working on her colourful pieces. Her work can be found in private collections around the world and has also been licenced by a fabric manufacturer which gives another dimension to her recognisable style.

Part of the reason I have not had much time to paint this evening ....

.... is because I have been rather distracted by delicious ice cream on the beach :o)

My latest painting as it appeared in the world ..

I took photos at regular intervals while working on this little painting, and put them together in a slideshow so it can be seen as it develops.

Painting in the garden has enthused me to work with colour like never before!

Painting in the garden has enthused me to work with colour like never before!

I spent most of today painting outside in the garden and it has really inspired me to fill my canvas with bright colours. This is going to be quite a large one, by my standards at least - 50cm square - and it's already becoming a firm favourite. Loving every single brush stroke right now

Anyone for a spot of colour?

Anyone for a spot of colour?

How uplifting I find bright, clashing colours - I was talking to someone today who tells me that even when I was tiny, I would always manage to surround myself with colour and pattern. I'm glad that in the last few years I have just said "This is ME!" when I paint, and go with what feels right to me - it's so much fun, very liberating and makes me feel incredibly happy with the work I share with people.

    The Moon and the Stars

    The Moon and the Stars

I'm working steadily from right to left on this painting and really getting lost in the details as I go. Rather than filling the top part of the board with flowers until they fall off the edge, I'm painting in the night sky beyond the blooms. A new and interesting take on a still life, I think. I'm looking forward to sharing this one with you when it's done!
