About Ian Walder
Biography
Ian is a self-taught artist who specialises in seascapes and urban landscapes. He has been painting for more than 30 years in which time he has developed a bright & vibrant style which is both popular and interesting. His art is best described as dreamlike. Most of the compositions are created from a spurious perspective, usually inspired by the experience of visiting a place which has captured his imagination. In the last 15 years he has become very prolific producing 2-3 paintings each month. Ian uses mostly acrylic paint on canvas because this is the easiest medium to control and manipulate. Some of his art has an impasto style portraying texture, other pieces have a more delicate style. However, all Ian's art has one thing in common, the uninhibited use of bright powerful colours.
Ian's aim is to create original paintings which are a reflection of his imaginary perspective.
In 2021 Ian was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease which has gradually curtailed his mobility but he continues to create new artworks. And, whenever possible he will use his unique talent to raise money and awareness of this relentless and all consuming disease
