About Ian Viggars

  • Biography

I am an artist, designer, and video editor based in East Sussex. I produce paintings and illustrations in a brightly coloured pop art or graphic style. My subjects matter and inspirations include food, music, and nostalgia.

My aim is to create bold, modern artworks and designs that are memorable and fun.

I've exhibited all over London and sold paintings to buyers all over the world. In 2016 I painted a large wall mural you can still see on display in London. I've drawn and designed logos and branding for several start-ups, and created two fully animated music videos based on my own drawings.

An ongoing series of mine focuses on paintings of everyday food items. These are represented as distinct objects usually suspended against a light blue background. I love the idea of reducing everyday items to bright simple shapes and colours so that they become almost childlike and abstract.

My main inspirations are the original pop artists like Warhol and Lichtenstein, modern day graphic design, and retro cartoons and computer game graphics.
