    Hristo Hristov, born in 1961 in Pleven, Bulgaria, is a dynamic and versatile artist with a distinguished career that spans across painting, illustration, graphic design, and book layout. A graduate of the Academy of Arts in Sofia in 1993, where he studied “Illustration and Layout of the Book” under the renowned Prof. Borislav Stoev, Hristov’s creative journey has been nothing short of impressive.

    Over the years, Hristov has masterfully navigated various artistic fields, creating captivating illustrations, designing striking book covers and catalogues, and contributing to TV advertisements. His works have graced numerous exhibitions and plain-airs, both in Bulgaria and internationally, earning him a solid reputation among art connoisseurs.

    Among his most notable solo exhibitions are his stunning displays at the Bulgarian Cultural Centres in Warsaw, Poland (1998, 2019), and Budapest, Hungary (2016). Domestically, he has held eight solo exhibitions between 2010 and 2021, leaving a significant imprint on the Bulgarian art scene. His works are treasured in private collections across the globe, from Bulgaria to the USA, France, Taiwan, and beyond.

    Hristov’s curatorial expertise is evident in his leadership of the acclaimed exhibitions “G-22 – Vinniti Appotemus” in Pazardzhik and Sofia (2009). In addition to his prolific art career, he is a respected academic, lecturing on graphic design and the History of Art at the University of Library Science and Information Technology (ULSIT) in Sofia, where he also serves as Chief Assistant at the Department of Culture, Historical Heritage, and Tourism. Hristov is also a part-time lecturer at the prestigious National Academy of Arts and holds a PhD in his field.

    As a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA), Comics Section, Hristov continues to push the boundaries of his artistic practice, living and working in Sofia, where he remains a vibrant force in both the art world and academia.
