About Heather Kostal

  • Biography
I specialize in acrylic landscape and still life painting, driven by a passion for unconventional expressions of color. My work challenges traditional norms, using unexpected color schemes to infuse vitality into familiar scenes. I often find inspiration in a pile of buried treasures in the garage, or in the street lights, clouds, and cell towers while out on a drive. I aim to make beautiful and unique the mundane things we often see around us. I love unique combinations of color and diverse and unexpected palettes. I choose colors that may seem unexpected but subtly keep the color tendency and temperature of the original hue. When I earned my undergraduate and graduate degrees in art education my media concentration was painting. The collection of random clouds, weird objects, and my neighborhood on my phone’s photo reel gave me endless inspiration to sit and paint. Now there are days where it is all I want to do. I have sold a few paintings, but my collection keeps growing. I seek a wider audience and an opportunity to share my work on the global scale. Artfinder provides that opportunity.
