Biography
My name is Haykuhi Khachatryan, and I am a contemporary impressionistic fine art painter living and working in the picturesque town of Dilijan, Armenia.
My passion for painting began in childhood, inspired by the vibrant spirit and poetic mystery of Armenian nature. The ever-changing beauty of the earth, sky, clouds, mountains, water, and flowers deeply moved me — and over time, these impressions came to life through bold compositions and harmoniously contrasting colors.
In my early artistic journey, I explored various techniques by visiting the galleries of renowned Armenian masters and immersing myself in art literature. Over the years, I experimented with different styles and mediums, but the timeless beauty of Impressionism captured my heart. The works of Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Édouard Manet, Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro, Paul Gauguin, Auguste Renoir, and Paul Cézanne became profound sources of inspiration.
My artistic vision has also been shaped by visits to world-famous museums such as the Musée d’Orsay, Louvre, Tretyakov Gallery, Van Gogh Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Each of these encounters profoundly enriched my creative outlook and deepened my connection to the universal language of art.
Today, I primarily work with oil on canvas, using a palette knife to create expressive textures and vivid layers. I find oil colors uniquely rich and natural — they allow me to explore my mastery of color theory, rhythm, and composition.
The process of creation for me is almost mystical — sometimes sparked by a fleeting moment in nature, other times by an image that exists only in my imagination. I believe that each painting carries immense energy and emotion, and through my use of bright, vibrant hues, I strive to evoke harmony, immediacy, and optimism in the viewer.
My artworks are part of private collections around the world — in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, Austria, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Bulgaria, France, Russia, Australia, Bahrain, China, Taiwan, and beyond. I also have works included in the permanent collection of LG Gallery in Wisconsin, USA.
I have participated in international workshops such as KKV in Sweden, and I am proud to hold an official certificate from the prestigious Luxembourg Art Prize.
My works have been featured in both solo and group exhibitions across Armenia, Europe, and the United States, each new experience deepening my artistic journey and strengthening my connection with the world through color, emotion, and light.
