About Gordon Brady

  • Biography

After school I spent 20 years in the RAF, serving as a navigator on Canberra and Vulcan aircraft.  I left the RAF in 1984 with the rank of Flight Lieutenant.  I then spent 15 years teaching in secondary schools, during which time I completed a BA degree with the Open University, until taking early retirement in 2002 and moved to France in 2003.  I sold the odd painting in UK and then again in France, the owner of the French gallery I used wanted to provide lessons for the local ex-pats, and I started teaching watercolour.  At the start of the pandemic I had three classes of both French and British students. in August 2020 I moved back to the UK.

For my commercial work I use Arches 300 gsm rough paper, and good quality watercolour paints, for example the Winsor and Newton Professional watercolours and I also have Daniel Smith and Schmincke tubes in my box.

Most of my work is in watercolour and ranges from animals and birds to aircraft, .  My paintings of rusty motoring icons have a good following, and that trend has continued in UK.  I have recently started to paint in acrylics and oils, and examples may appear later in 2023. I do paint for enjoyment, but always with selling in mind.
