About Fuensanta Ruiz Urien

  • Biography
Graduate in Journalism from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication of the Basque Country. I live in Bayonne, a town in the south of France, where I have taken different courses in plastic arts at the Ecole Supérieure d'Art Pays Basque.
I am currently studying for a degree in Art History at the UNED.
Member of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors and of the Biscayan Artistic Association and of the solidarity project Encontrarte.
Works in national and international private collections.
It is difficult to explain what drives me to create art. I could say that it is a necessity, a pleasure and at the same time a self-improvement. It is how I feel my life, the reflection of what excites me, what I like, what fascinates me, what surrounds me,..., landscapes and beings that accompany me. I could not understand my world without capturing it with pigments.
Between brushes, my mind rests...I use the technique of oil painting on various media such as canvas, wood or paper.
Contemporary realist style and sometimes with a certain expressionist influence. Both colour and drawing have their place in my work. Sometimes I use the detailed brushstroke, at other times, it is the colour stain that imagines the form. This influences the different perception of the work seen from near or far.
My subject matter is varied without ever forgetting a reference to the reality represented, which can range from the seascape to figuration. Seas and Beings are what determine the palette. From the different bluish tonalities of the seascapes to a richer and more diverse chromatics in the works where the human figure is the protagonist.
