The painting came out of the inspiration of painting outdoors in the English coastline. In this work which began as a plein air painting, I responded to the experience of leaving from the city, which often feels enclosed, in contrast to arriving on summer coastline with the expanse of light and space.

The pictures do not do this painting justice The colors really come alive in person. It is perfect for the room.

I am so glad that you feel the painting comes alive beyond the photographic image; pictorial space and the painted colour surface of the canvas convey a movement and depth and the large scale of the painting has an impact too. I was inspired to portray the subject of a Comedy Club because the scene has a narrative of social interaction, a diversity of characters and humour is an essential part of every day life. I am very pleased you bought the painting and that you felt the purchasing experience was positive.
