About Elizabeth Anne Fox

  • Biography
I love to spend time in those high and lonely places, watching and feeling the wind, the birds, the trees, the grass. Elemental things, which I long to make into paintings. Back in the studio, I use sketches, memories, imagination and photographs to create my work.
I use a wide variety of media, depending on the subject and the feel of what I want to achieve, including oil paint, watercolour paint, wax encaustic, and graphite.

I have been painting every day for many years, since graduating with an MA in Painting.  Over 450 paintings have been sold to collectors across the globe, from USA to Canada, Australia, Britain, Singapore, Germany, and all of Europe,

    Event: ING Discerning Eye 2022

    Dates: 11 Nov 2022 - 18 Nov 2022

Venue: Discerning Eye Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London

My painting, Carbon Pool, has been selected for this years Discerning Eye exhibition and will be on show at the Mall Galleries, London, throughout the exhibition.

    Event: Watershed

    Dates: 7 Aug 2022 - 21 Mar 2023

    Venue: Gibson Mill, Hardcastle Crags

To coincide with Slow the Flows first Roadshow at the Crags, I am showing my latest large scale drawings, from the series ‘Watershed’. The installation of drawings is now in place at the Turbine Room, Gibson Mill, Hardcastle Crags and will stay there through the summer period.

You can also watch a series of short videos showing the work I have been doing during my time as artist in residence with Slow the Flow. This is also in the Turbine Room on the big screen, and will be interspersed with footage from Slow the Flow.

    Watershed Drawings
Large drawings on paper responding to the habitat of the watersheds of the Pennines. Geographical features, map markings, personal gesture and place names come together in these large scale black and white drawings and encaustic works. Maps contain a wealth of insight into our attitude towards the land, and this is noted through the use of names in the drawings – each place name denotes a term for a marshy water-collecting environment.
