Ezio Ranaldi trained as a self-taught artist, inspired by the metaphysics of De Chirico, Surrealism and Abstractionism and experimenting with different artistic techniques. He is one of the most eclectic and virtuosic Italian artists. 

In the 1970s his great passion for art led him to travel all over Europe and at the same time to paint surreal and metaphysical works. His was a long journey, both geographical and mental.

Photography, in particular the transformation and processing of images into elegant figures and scenic perspectives, which he has developed by deepening his skills in digital processing in post production. In recent years he has developed such skills that he has been able to hold courses in photography and digital processing in post production.

Ezio Ranaldi creates his works inspired by photographic images captured at particular moments in the past, which may depict people who appeared for a moment in the street or met and then lost, or views of metropolitan cities, or even significant landscapes.  And then they tell a story and communicate their emotions. Many creations are dedicated to female figures, muses who embody beauty but are at the same time for the artist a reflection of the representation of women in contemporary culture; from poetry, to seduction, to the object, in a labyrinth of real and surreal subjects.  The works are set in a "non-place" that is striking for the contrast between the luminous geometry and the colour fields, which may be watercolour or material, and may contain material torn from reality or dreamlike elements.  At times the women who emerge are enraptured and erased by elements that partly invade the space coming from the contemporary world, such as advertising inscriptions, or that seem to come from the unconscious, such as the boxes that open on mysterious masks; at other times quotations from works of art are compared with the muses represented in different eras.  

Ezio Ranaldi stands out for his ability to interweave different techniques and styles, from painting to photography, from abstract to figurative, building labyrinths of spaces and surreal visions, constantly searching for new chromatic and perspective balances. He is an artist capable of creating his own expressive language with which to show his major themes linked to the human being.

His is a very expressive and convincing language with a Pop flavour that comes from the use of such elegant images that could inspire fashion magazines. The artist arouses emotions and disorientation in the spectator, making him reflect at the same time on the female figure, free and at the same time a prisoner in our contemporary world.
