Artist Eva Volf expresses her lifelong love for the ocean in her new series of seascapes on round canvases depicting white-capped breaking waves of Carolinas, spectacular sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico and dreamy South Florida underwater scenes as if seen through portholes of a cruise ship. Eva’s contemporary seascapes on round canvases simply draw you into her life affirming and spirit elevating world of shimmering light and beautiful tranquility of the water element.

Ranging from painting and photography to ceramics and mixed media installations, each piece serves as a unique snapshot of life in Northeast Ohio.

Art and artists from the book will be showcased as well as additional work from other local artists. This exhibit promises to represent the amazing diversity of talent born and bred right here. Four different creative practices come into dialogue with each other in this energetic exhibition as the artists bring together for the first time their preferred forms, methods, and materials. While the artistic connection across the works of Bush (painting), Calhoun (new media), Skerritt (painting), and Volf (painting) may not be readily apparent through a surface comparison of their imagery, they share an orientation to "mindfulness" ~ the deep focusing of attention without distraction. Drawing upon this in-depth process in which the qualities of their chosen forms and subjects are revealed, they share a delight in making visible what is, perhaps, invisible to others' eyes ~ patterns patterning, multiple perspectives occupying the same space, ineffable light pervading the physical world. It is work that finds in the differences of the artists' approaches something deeply held-in-common as they mindfully approach their tools, each other, and the viewer in rounds of discovery

In this semi-abstract marine oil paintings exhibition I invite you to open up your intuition, enter my paintings and see where they take you. Swirling shapes, lucid waves, frozen in time, vortexes and whirlpools, pure energy and cosmic flow, connection of nature and spirit. We live in the country situated between two powerful oceans: magnificent Pacific ocean and terrific Atlantic ocean. These oceans are like enormous living beings with their heartbeat, feelings and thoughts. They fill us with calmness and harmony, clear vision, eternal wisdom and creative power. Water flows and changes. Symbolically, it is often viewed as the source of life itself, higher wisdom and eternal metamorphosis. Interestingly, we are all made of water. A single drop causes ripples across the whole sea and so a single person can make a big change to the whole world. Come with me, feel the freedom to explore mysterious watery elements of nature in my refreshing and unconstrained art.
