About Eri Ishii

  • Biography

Eri Ishii: Full time independent Japanese artist working and living in Canada. Creates dreamy landscapes and still life paintings.

Hello, thank you for visiting my Artfinder shop!

Style: My work is best known for evocative images with soft colours and depth. I'm trained in figurative drawing which provides strong backbones for my paintings.

Inspiration: I am in love with oil paint. Its buttery texture and luminous colours make me feel like a kid every time I paint. I work carefully on each painting layering paint and paying attention to subtle tones and proportions,. Each piece takes typically one month or so to finish (sometimes a year!). They are labour of love and no two paintings are ever the same.

Paintings: All signed on the back and ready to hang. The large pieces are on custom made cedar stretchers.

Exhibition history: My work has been shown across Canada and internationally including USA, Japan, Taiwan, and Switzerland. They are in hospitals, seniors centres, corporate and private collections. Media coverage of my work includes Globe & Mail, Vancouver Sun, and CBC Radio. I am currently represented by Ian Tan Gallery in Vancouver.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! I'll be happy to connect with you and answer any questions you might have. Thank you for your interest and hope you will visit again!
