About Emma de Polnay
Biography
Emma de Polnay was born in London. She now lives and works in Brighton, East Sussex.
Emma studied art at Wimbledon Art School, going on to study at Kingston University for a BA in fine art and an MA in set design for film.
After over 10 years working in the creatively challenging but often relentless world of film set design, Emma emerged and re-discovered her passion for drawing and painting.
Emma’s drawings - both figurative and abstract, are a continuous exploration of mark making on paper. Her influences - physical power v. fragility, captured movement, rhythm and rest and love symbology, are interpreted through a fusion of hard edges, soft inky washes, collage, drips, metallic grains, hot colours and iridescent hues.
A journey: allowing the media to live and perform its own dance and embracing the uncertainty of the end result
