About Elizabeth Sullivan

  • Biography

I am fascinated with the flow of water media. I am inspired to paint motion and both acrylics and watercolors provide perfect mediums for flowing and powerful motion. Water flows, paint flows. It creates and depicts motion. That’s what I do – I paint motion. I am a muralist and painter (yes, I paint tiny canvases or entire buildings).

I’m always “emerging” although I have been a professional artist for 20 years and have done artwork for my entire 70 years of life, starting with sand sculptures on the beach when I was a year old. Artists emerge – we shed one skin and flow into a new one. That’s how creating works.

Artists are the dreamers, the inspirers of future. Artists can inspire emotions. My job is to create art that will uplift the spirit and/or bring attention to situations in society that need attention or remedy.

I am inspired by many artists who came before me, but if I had to pick one artist, it would be one of the nameless artists who painted on the walls of caves and chipped their art on rocks in the desert. These artists knew what they were doing – prehistoric, perhaps, but not primitive.

My other favorite hats are musician (I play in 2 bands) and granny (3 grandsons).
