About Elina Evstig

  • Biography

I've been engaged in making art since 2012 and work as a freelance artist since 2015. I have no formal education in the art field, I taught myself in the field of design and illustration, and developed my drawing skills. As an artist based in Berlin, I participated in local collective exhibitions and a few abroad.

I do figurative painting with elements of abstraction and paint in oils using Liquin as a medium. My most frequent subject is people, especially women and children portraits, which is a tribute to my childhood in a dysfunctional family and an attempt to capture what resonates with me now as an adult. I don't make art as a radical statement, for me it's more like mini-stories about me and my perception of the world and people; so to say, I gradually create my own personal language, with which I write my story.  Yet my works are open to interpretation, I like it when people find their own meanings in art, so I always try to make a delicate description of my work without overloading it with the ideas that inspired them.

    Exhibitions and publications:

    2017 Elephants Gallery, Chiangmai, Thailand

2020 Exhibition Feministische Solidarität :: Red Square Festival; Berlin, Germany

2023 Exactly Lab: Artists Embracing New AI, Guelman und Unbekannt Gallery, Berlin, Germany

    2023 Goddesart Magazine, issue11 October-November

2024 Salon de Refusees, Krautart Studio, Berlin, Germany
