  • Biography

    Pop Artist in Australia

    Born and raised in The Netherlands I moved to Australia in 2013, where I started to make Pop Art.

    My work has always been graphic and illustrative. It is simply how I am wired. I love to use bright colors. I think there is too much grey in modern day life.

    My inspiration comes from traditional prints, cartoons from the 20s and 30s, Pop Art and Street Art.

    My work
    The paper prints: Printed on high quality fine art paper in a limited edition with a maximum of 50 prints. All signed and numbered on the front.

    The canvas prints: Printed on high quality canvas in a limited edition of 1 print. Signed and numbered on the back. It comes with a certificate of authenticity.

    The paintings: Signed on the front and the back. It comes with a certificate of authenticity.

    Commissions:
    I have done a few commissions in the past and I am curious to hear what great ideas you have.

    I have sold my work to art lovers in USA, UK, The Netherlands and Australia.

    In April 2017 my print 'Animals of Australia' won the second prize in the category Open Photo/Digital at the Easter Art Show in Shorncliffe.

    In April 2016 I won my first award at the Ipswich Art Awards. My print 'Shorncliffe – Layer upon layer' was highly commended by the jury.

    Venue: Bramble Place Tea & Coffee, 1 Loudon Street, Sandgate QLD 4017

    In June and July Ed Schimmel and Anita Greeck are having an exhibition in 'Bramble Place Tea & Coffee'. Ed and Anita moved from The Netherlands to Australia three years ago and started their great adventure in Brighton. They have never regretted the move and enjoy living here every day.

    Both enjoy making art besides their daytime jobs. Ed makes colorful prints in a modern graphic style. Some of them have Pop Art influences. Anita does nature photography. This can be a beautiful landscape, an animal, but also a close-up of a rock or a shell. The work of Ed and Anita contains scenes from Australia, but also from The Netherlands or trips they have made in the past. There will be around 15 to 20 works in total on display.

    The opening is on the 8th of June from 6pm onwards.

    The Nudgee College DimensionsNC Art Festival is held annually in August. The event is a cultural celebration showcasing artistic, musical and creative talent from members of our student body and the local community.

    The event is held in Tierney Auditorium and opens on the Friday night. All members of the local community are welcome to attend the Opening Night Celebration Gala or view the artwork on display during the Art Festival.

    Event: The meaning of life

    Venue: Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts, 420 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley QLD 4006, Australia

    My print 'Survive' got selected for the Brisbane Art Prize 2016. The theme is "The Meaning of Life". I made this print because I think the meaning of life is to survive. Luckily we have beloveds around us who care for us and make it easier for us to survive.
