Dominic Fondé is a British born glass blower and engraver, based in
Kobe, Japan. He has over 20 years’ experience as a professional artist
and is a Fellow of the Guild of Glass Engravers and an Associate member
of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers.
Dominic has exhibited his art in London, New York, Oisterwijk (the
Netherlands), Singapore, Taipei, Tokyo and Venice. In Britain, (where he
started his career, with a Masters in Design from Edinburgh College of
Art) his work is in the collections of the Royal Museum of Scotland,
Broadfield House Glass Museum and The World of Glass (St. Helen’s) plus
in Australia, New York and Singapore. Dominic’s work frequently includes
images of birds and nature. He also writes short stories on glass;
exploring the emotional weight that glass objects exert on our lives, as
containers for memories and emotions. Dominic uses a small drill to
engrave his text based works but for image based pieces he works with
the stipple technique, which allows for a high level of detail
especially on the miniature portraits of birds and people. Dominic
creates work for sale, commission and exhibition.
