Biography
Diana is inspired by everchanging colour, light and dramatic scenery, presented by nature as well as nocturnal settings, often in the context of a suburban landscape. She reflects on the change of the emotive response of the viewer to the same places depending on the time of day, weather, season, as well as one’s mood, imagination, narrative and personal experience. Diana records what she has seen and experienced, capturing local scenes that evoked in her a sense of awe, either visually and/or emotionally. She works mainly in oils, painting in a style that references Realism and Romanticism.
Diana Sandetskaya is a self-taught artist. She started attending painting classes in 2015 and joined mentoring sessions for artists at the Insight School of Art in Whetstone in April 2017.
Diana works mainly in oils, and paints in a style that references Realism and Romanticism. Her work has been shown at solo exhibitions and art fairs in London, as well as group shows in London, Kent, Hertfordshire, Dorset and Wales. In 2022 Diana’s work was selected for the international competition and exhibition ‘Wales Contemporary 2022’. In 2023 Diana’s painting was selected for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition.
