Derek Hare is an internationally collected British artist specialising in original seascape oil paintings, marine painting and coastal landscape art. With more than six decades as a professional painter, his work explores the changing character of light, colour and atmosphere across coastlines and waterways around the world.

Derek has painted extensively throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, as well as in Portugal, the Bahamas, Seychelles, India and other locations. His paintings range from the dramatic Atlantic coast of Portugal and the beaches of Northumberland and Scotland to the extraordinary turquoise waters of the Bahamas and Seychelles.

Rather than simply recording a particular location, Derek aims to capture its atmosphere and the distinctive quality of light at a particular moment. His limited palette allows subtle changes in colour to create depth, mood and unexpected variations within each painting.

His original oil paintings are held in private and corporate collections internationally, and he undertakes commissions for private clients, companies, hotels and superyachts. Derek is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and continues to paint and exhibit his work internationally.
