Biography
My work is driven by the desire to capture and represent the world around me through landscapes and portraits. Family, friends, travelling, skateboarding, nature, light and the man-made world all inspire and influence me. I like to discover and explore nature and culture in different parts of the world and take great inspiration from happy, creative and positive people with a “let’s do it” attitude, because life is short and we should try to enjoy it.
My drawing and painting style is somewhere between realistic and impressionistic and I try to capture the size, weight, feeling, emotion and experience of each subject.
I like to experiment and use many different materials and mediums depending on the situation and required result.
I enjoy working “en plein air” as this gives me a much closer relationship with the subject and I get to feel, experience and learn more about it than I do when just working from a photograph. The challenge of trying to capture things in ever-changing daylight can lead to unexpected results. I often use these works done from nature, photos and other references to create more detailed, larger works in my studio.
