Biography
David León, known as DS Leon, is a multidisciplinary artist who has found his voice through figurative sculpture and painting. His life, marked by dyslexia and childhood challenges, led him down an unconventional path to the art world.
After years of humiliation and misunderstanding from his surroundings, a diagnosis of dyslexia at the age of 14 marked a turning point. With the help of a teacher, David learned to write again and found in art a refuge to express his unique vision of the world.
The explosion of rap and graffiti in the 90s captivated him, and the streets of Barcelona became his canvas. Despite criticism and being labeled a "vandal," David continued to express his rebellion and ideas through spray paint.
Punk entered his life as a new form of expression, loaded with social messages and an aesthetic that resonated with his nonconformist spirit. Music, concerts, and libertarian collectives temporarily distanced him from traditional art, but they did not extinguish his creative flame.
Finally, the need to share his story and connect with a wider audience led him to exhibition halls. His figurative sculptures, full of characters with long legs and bowed heads, twisted wires and vibrant colors, reflect his vision of the world and the complexities of contemporary society.
David León is an example of overcoming adversity and a reminder that difficulties do not have to be an obstacle to achieving our dreams. His art is a cry for freedom, an invitation to see the world from a different perspective, and proof that dyslexia can be a source of creativity and inspiration.
