Biography
Born and raised in Amesbury Wiltshire (which many will know is home to the famous Stonehenge), I currently live in Ilchester Somerset with my lovely wife Rebecca, my handsome son Jack and Rocky the dog. Prior moving to Somerset, I spent 12 years living in Wrexham North Wales. For those of you who love the great outdoors, Wales is one of those places in the UK you have to visit.
Since I first picked up a camera at the age of eight, I have always had a passion for photography. My inspiration comes from my inner desire to capture the colour and beauty of a specific scene which if missed, could be gone forever. The advent of digital has allowed photographers like myself to become super creative with their work and my particular art is all about texture and colour.
I mainly use a process whereby the original photograph is carefully modified using digital manipulation to create unique and stunning artwork which looks part photo and part painting. Although this process creates a completely new and unique image, the content and composition of the original photograph remains unaltered. This is an aspect of my work which I feel very strongly about as If you start changing the content of the original photograph (the reason why you took the photo in the first place) that ‘magic of the moment’, will be lost.
In the process of producing my digitally modified artwork, I interestingly discovered that ‘some photographs’ simply could not be improved via my digital modification process. This being the case 'and in addition to my standard modified artwork', I have decided to introduce a new range for 2023. The very first of this new range is titled DURDLE.
I always print to canvas using archive grade inks and specialist matt varnish. I find canvas (aside from being extremely tough) provides the best texture and depth whilst the specialist inks and varnish deliver excellent light fastness and the all-important resistance to UV light. The actual size of my artwork is either: A2 - 24” x 16” (60.96mm x 40.64mm) or 30" x 10" (762mm x 254mm) for my Panoramic size.
The UK is a truly beautiful place to live and I feel privileged to be able to express this in my artwork. It is an absolute pleasure to be able to make my artwork available for the world to enjoy through the Artfinder platform.
I hope you enjoy my selection of unique artworks. Please see individual artwork listings for full details.
