  • Biography

    My name is Christos Kakoulli, but I am also known by my artistic name, CRS. I am a 31-year-old stencil artist from Nicosia, Cyprus. I create my artwork using handmade and hand-cut stencils, which I then spray paint onto various surfaces. My goal is to achieve a photorealistic effect in my paintings, and I often use delicate thin paper to draw and cut out all the intricate details I envision. This process is unique and demanding, and I truly love it.

    In addition to my studio work, I also engage in street art using my stencils, which has garnered significant media interest. Many people refer to me as the "Banksy" of Cyprus. I had the opportunity to meet Banksy during my visit to Bristol for "Upfest," the largest street art festival in the world. We discussed art and the festival's paintings, and he expressed appreciation for my work on the streets of Bristol.

    I named my latest technique "Γκριζόχρωμα" (Grey Color) because I create a colorful background using spray paint and brushes, with stencils, while the main subject of my artwork is rendered in grayscale. My inspiration often stems from social issues, focusing on themes like refugees, war, and peace, among other societal challenges. I also enjoy creating portrait paintings and exploring other subjects that I find intriguing.

    Furthermore, I hold three world records, along with numerous international awards and recognitions in Cyprus.

    Venue: " Η τέχνη του δρόμου που κλείστηκε σε μια Γκαλερί ", Nicosia

    Το Σάββατο στην Star A. Art Gallery στη Λευκωσία πραγματοποιήθηκαν τα εγκαίνια της πρώτης μου ατομικής έκθεσης. Την ονόμασα τέχνη του δρόμου γιατί τα υλικά που χρησιμοποιώ και ειδικά το σπρέι μπογιά ξεκίνησαν από τον δρόμο και συγκεκριμένα από το γκράφιτι που γίνεται στους δρόμους. Στην έκθεση βρίσκονται συγκεκριμένα 45 πινάκες και installations, υπάρχουν πινάκες που είναι πάνω σε ξύλο καμβά καθώς και κάποιοι που είναι χαραγμένοι στο γυαλί. Οι πινάκες, αφορούν τον ρατσισμό σε όλες του τις μορφές, την κοινωνική παθογένεια, τους προσφυγές καθώς και τα ΛΟΑΤ άτομα. Για όποιον θα ήθελε να την επισκεφθεί, θα παραμείνει ανοιχτή για το κοινό μέχρι το Σάββατο 16 Ιουλίου από τις 10 το πρωί μέχρι τις 8 το βράδυ με δωρεάν είσοδο.
