About Christine Harrison

  • Biography

My practice started in earnest in 2007, re-igniting a passion held for many years. For me visual connection is a key response to living; art represents a simple yet profound compulsion in human life – to express. I enjoy versatility in this expression and honing my response to my initial inspiration often dictates the medium I choose to work with. My work enables me to explore the tension between technical discipline and spontaneity. Colour, layering and texture are important features in my work and I enjoy the versatility of acrylic paint for this reason. My figurative work is landscape based and abstract work often starts with a visual memory of landscape or place and includes tone, colour and texture. Abstract work evolves in a semi-conscious way from there. I often get visual inspiration during meditation. I hope my work invites the viewer in - to look at detail, as well as enjoying the visual impact from a distance.
