About Christina Bodnaruk

  • Biography

    Was born 1994 in Ukraine.

From an early age I was surrounded by art, because my grandfather, with whom I lived, was an artist and constantly painted at home, going to plein airs every day. He would show me his new works and ask my and my grandmother's opinion. So I slowly began to discern the nuances of painting. He worked in post-impressionism, which gave room for reflection, which led to a basic understanding of composition and a sense of color. After balanced reflection, it was decided to change the direction of his education from music to the visual arts.

I have an incredible curiosity and desire to learn the nuances of people's thinking. I want to convey that light, haunting feeling of melancholy and lyricism. In each work I try to jump above myself and open up more and more.

I combine features of modern and academic painting in my portraits. The large-format works mainly depict people. The portraits are done in a realistic manner. Using dynamic strokes as part of the composition to bring out the harmony of the spots on the canvas more deeply. The dynamics enveloping a calm figure emphasizes the ability to remain calm, or the influence on the nature of the chaotic nature of society, the pressure of certain people, circumstances. Or vice versa, such an atmosphere can emphasize restlessness. It depends on the emotional coloring of the painting.
An attempt is made to emphasize inner experiences, transfer it through color, dynamics. With the help of dynamic and static effects (smear, local color), the inner world of humans and their character are displayed.
