Biography
I have always loved painting, drawing and creating. Watercolour was my medium of choice for many years until I took a course in printmaking and I was hooked. After over 10 years working in IT I took the leap and quit to become a full time artist in 2012.
I love linocut for it’s graphic, flat shapes and the way it lends itself to simplification in colour and line. Working in linocut I developed a series of limited edition views of Bournemouth and Dorset. I am also a keen portrait painter and I love painting landscapes, floral still lives and exploring mixed media abstracts.
In addition to painting and printmaking I am also a pattern designer. Working mainly digitally I create fun, colourful designs which I sell on fabric, wallpaper and a range of other products. Whilst I love digital design there’s no substitute for working hands-on with art materials. Whether I’m printmaking or working on an abstract painting I love to explore a mixed media approach.
My artistic heroes include David Hockney, Kandinsky, Edward Bawden and Shirley Trevena. My love of colour and my graphic, illustrative approach is evident, whether the subject is portrait, landscape, still life or abstract.
