Biography
My name is Carolyn Soma Shoemaker, Artist, Designer and Visual Arts Instructor. I'm from Rochester Michigan.
If I'm not painting you can probably find me in my garden in the summer and fall months, gardening is another one of my passions.
My love for art started at a very early age. I was encouraged by my high art teacher, to pursue a career in art. I studied at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Communications.
After college I was employed as a professional graphic designer at two major hospitals in the Detroit area for over 25 years. I am now a Visual Arts Instructor at Paint Creek Center for the Arts. This is where I discovered a new love, that is teaching. Seeing the progress of my students and their enthusiasm is so rewarding to me.
