Event: Never Normal
Dates: 7 Jul 2021 - 24 Jul 2021
Chilli Studios annual exhibition showcases a diverse collection of over fifty artists. It is a celebration of the immense creativity of our members and their valuable personal experiences through the testing year of 2020. Playfully approaching the media’s concept of “The new normal”, this show questions notions of "Normality" and our individual and collective experiences of mental health.
“This year has only highlighted the importance of art to our mental health and wellbeing. Using art as a powerful and liberating tool to often distract and heal ourselves, to self-express, to also challenge and make actions towards change.” Jo Burke, Arts Coordinator, Nov 2020
Set up in 2004, Chilli Studios is a charity that delivers services to those who are, or are at risk of, experiencing mental health conditions,.

Biography
Carole Ann Hall is an eclectic, sometimes whimsical, mixed media artist working in the North East of England. Generally responding to the themes of happiness and life.
Pandemic Puppet woman
‘Continuing the change of direction for my work. I’ve wanted to include people for some time, however I have struggled to express this until recently.
The pandemic has forced me to confront my relationships with others and allowed me some time to develop my artistic response to that.”
I studied at Cleveland college of Art and Sunderland University studying for a BA Hons In 3D design, specialising in glass with ceramics, and in later years at the university of Northumbria acheiving an MBA.I was initially diverted from a career in art by my desire to play a part in effecting social justice, and for a long time I worked in adult social care services. During this time painting was my hobby, but it's always been my focus, my relaxation and main pre occupation.
I am delighted to find time now to immerse myself in creativity. My subjects are often rooted in my love of the solitude I enjoy at home, in my garden, making ceramics, watching nature and loving the rich and varied landscape of the North East and Cumbria.
my work can be found in private collections in America, Europe and across the British Isles.
