About Aziz Anzabi

  • Biography

Aziz Anzabi was born in Tehran in 1970 and grew up during the war between Iran and Iraq.  The memories of these formative years would be the sustenance of his life’s work as an artist.

Aziz began his studies at the Art Institute, then in 1990 he entered Azad University where he practised in Life Drawing. The artist  is currently interested in bringing sculpture and painting together as one, adding and creating a new dimension.

Aziz's work has sold worldwide, especially in the United States. He is not well known in the UK and its art market is full of untapped potential. He started experimenting with a range of styles and created a new body of artworks for new clients.

Some of the artist's work could be viewed at the Tehran Museum. His work has also appeared on National Stamps; he has written film scripts for the Middle East companies. Additionally, Anzabi published books on a few subjects, including art and mathematics. (The artist lectured at Tehran University.)

Anzabi's work is heavily influenced by Mahmoud  Farschian; evidence of this could be seen in the lines and textures of his work - both painting and sculpture. Quite recently Anzabi has turned his focus to sculpture;  his 'Angels' piece was cited for a fine art commendation in the States, Cane and Abel is another example of the artist's ability to depict human emotion and strength.

Dali ethos is just coming through in Anzabi's work as well. His style and influences are diverse and whilst some of his artwork is reminiscent of Dali, other pieces have elements of cubism, realism, impressionism or more interestingly a juxtaposition of several styles, that results in inventing a whole new style of his own.
