    Final details

    After allowing the paper to fully dry, I can now work in much smaller subtle details and marks to complete the painting. This is perhaps the most challenging stage as it's so tempting to just add that little bit more!

    Medium shapes

    As the paper dries, I have time so work in more smaller shapes with somewhat drier paint. There's still plenty of moisture in the paper so everything will still lightly fuzz and blend where I want it to but I can also work in more defined shapes and edges with control.

    Setting the mood

    To start off, I lay down some soft washy tone into a very damp sheet of cotton watercolour paper to set the mood of the piece.
