About Andre Pallat
Biography
Finally, after some thirty years plus of putting up scaffolding and working in the Building Trades, I’m in a position where I can spend my time painting.
I’ve been exhibiting (and selling) on Artfinder since August ’13 and have been pleasantly surprised by the number of people who have liked my paintings enough to buy one (sometimes more than one).. Many thanks to everyone who has purchased or shown an interest in my works.
The work varies in style and every painting is both an adventure and a quest. It’s difficult to state any ‘aims’ in my artworks for it’s just a matter of trying to do good works, to find something in the composition that is relevant and perhaps to hope, as did Van Gogh that the finished result is of more value than the blank canvas.
I have long thought that painting is more akin to gold prospecting or, perhaps, fishing than most other trades insomuch that sometimes you need to sift through a great deal of dross to find the precious nugget of gold.
The landscapes are sometimes painted outside in the Sussex countryside, sometimes from drawings, sometimes from photographs and sometimes from the imagination the Still Lifes usually from a ‘studio’ set up but sometimes with no reference at all.
Influences are the Impressionists; Post-Impressionists; Cubists; Rembrandt and just about any other painter or painting that has some quality that enriches this viewer.
My other great ‘passion’ is music with a particular fondness for the guitar (which accounts for the numerous paintings depicting musicians)..
One more thing. Because |I have quite a number of paintings on the Site, I usually only frame a piece after it has been ordered. I don't really like sending a painting out unframed as it can look a bit unfinished (unless it's a wide bodied canvas}. The majority of the framed works that you see on my site are 'digital' and are my idea of a frame that works with that picture. Should you prerfer a different type of frame (or no frame at all) message me and, if it is similar to others on my site then I can try and asccomodate. My framer is normally pretty good at 'turning around' frames pretty quickly but, occasionally, there are minor hold-ups so delivery can sometimes take a few days longer than expected.
