About Anastasija Pudane

  • Biography
Often described as mythic and poetic, I tend to bring femininity to the forefront of my narratives. I started my artistic journey while attending Janis Rosenthal Art School in Riga, Latvia. I believe that my current practice reflects my childhood surroundings that I have now brought with me and I use these memories of Baltic landscapes as an inspiration to create my artworks here in London. I’ve been always interested in drawing, painting and printmaking and I use various mediums to capture a moment, often referring to my work as a visual diary. I draw inspiration from my experiences and often refer to themes such as human condition, relationships, life processes, motherhood, birth, death. My project 'God, Please Give Me a Daughter' is an intimate, reflective journey within difficult relationships mirroring woman's needs within relationships. With focus split between observation and experimentation, these scenes celebrate conception. In 2019 graduated from Camberwell College of Arts (UAL) with Master of Arts. I hope my viewers can take away excitement about everyday things, love, empathy, mystery and little details that has been lost in this digital era.
