About Anastasiia Levina

  • Biography
My name is Anastasiia Levina and I’m a Russian artist currently living in The Netherlands. I was born in 1988 in Moscow and my childhood was full of this crazy freedom of early post-soviet country. It was slowly washing away year by year, but I still remember the fresh air of creativity and optimism and I still do believe in openmindness, courage and liberty. And I’m trying to make it the part of my artistic journey.

I’ve always been mesmerised by human culture and nature coexisting in harmony. There are so many beautiful examples of it throughout the history! From ancient Greeks to the old Russian Church of the Intercession on the Nerl and from the Tuscany farms to the buildings by Frank Lloyd Wrigh. And smaller things like fruit tree in somebody’s little garden or wildflowers in a fun vase designed by some creative soul or an old oak that gives a shadow on a sunny day. These simple things also inspire me. I know that right now it’s more like we are killing our planet, but I do believe that we can live peacefully together with love and respect. We just need to learn from the best, not from the worst.

My main medium is oil, I’ve used many mediums but since I tried oil paints for the first time, I just always come back to them even if others can be more convenient in some ways. I love oils it just feels right.
