About Amanda Lakin Art

  • Biography
I live and and work on the fringe of the stunning Peak District national park, where the colour and texture of the shifting seasons provides a constant source of inspiration for my painting. I try to capture what this wonderful country has to offer whether it be from land, sea, nature, or wildlife, I feel so lucky to live within such a wonderful, rich tapestry of colours and textures.
I walk daily with my dogs, absorbing my surroundings and enjoying experiencing the elements throughout the changing seasons. I work either directly outside or from my own photographs and resource material back in my studio.
With its stark contrast of terrain, I also spend a lot of time on the glorious North Norfolk coast, visiting the plentiful bird and nature reserves, expansive beaches with their endless skies, enjoying getting the sand between my toes, with a pencil and sketchbook in my hand.
I just love to paint, and I paint what I love, landscape, seascape, nature and wildlife are the main focus of my work, so too are our canine friends that I regularly produce to commission.
I paint predominantly in water mixable oils, but also acrylic, watercolour and mixed media with a contemporary take on traditional subject matter.
