About Alona Hryn

A full-time Ukrainian watercolor artist based in Braunschweig (Germany) since spring 2013.

I was born and grew up in Poltava, Ukraine. I’ve dreamed to be a painter since my childhood and only after my 25th birthday I’ve started to paint. 6th November 2012 was the best day in my life – my first art class. Traveling and painting has been my big dream, which finally came true in 2013 when we moved from Poltava (Ukraine) to Braunschweig (Germany).

I find inspiration in a beauty of nature, flowers and plants, in the beauty of the environment around – from ancient to modern architecture, cityscapes, minimalistic landscapes, and clouds, sunsets, endless sky. 

To know the materials better I have visited several factories of art materials producers - Hahnemühle (April 2018), Royal Talens (May 2018), Escoda (March 2019). Furthermore, I work and cooperate with world producers of art materials - Hahnemühle, Schmincke, Da Vinci, St. Cuthberts Mill, ShinHan, Royal Talens, Escoda, Rosa, Tombow.

During April-November 2018 I participated in paper testing project with German paper manufacturer Hahnemühle (in cooperation with Schmincke and Da Vinci). Test results were published on the Hahnemühle website in April 2020.

I conducted master classes for Royal Talens (November 2018) and Weiss (February 2019).

In January 2019 I have worked as a guest artist (demo) at the ShinHan booth at international exhibition Creativeworld. And also filled up new leporello sketchbook "The ZigZag book" for Hahnemühle booth.

Up to day I work not only with watercolors, but also with other materials, in different techniques, on different surfaces (paper, canvas, wood, plaster, concrete, tile). Recently, I have been actively studying acrylic and pastel.

I am a member of German Watercolor Society since April 2018 and was a member of International Watercolor Society in 2018/2019.

My paintings are published in annual catalog of the German Watercolor Society (2018-2022). Publications of my step-by-step paintings are available on websites: Schmincke (05/15/2018), Jackson's Art (05/25/2018), Hahnemühle (04/09/2020). 

As a passionate painter, I represented Germany in the exhibition IWS "Our wonderful world" in Ukraine in 2018. My paintings take part in virtual exhibition “Meta-senses” (May-August 2022) and in virtual NFT-exhibition “Brave art” (July 2022). 

I was ShinHanart “Friend of the Brand 2022”. 

My works are held in private collections located in USA, Canada, Europe, Turkey and Ukraine.
