I've spent a lot of time looking for just the right ocean painting. Many of them are beautiful--portrayed in stunning turquoise and bright blue, with light shining through the cresting waves. Very romantic and pretty. Sadly, I've seen so many of them that they've all started to look the same, like a series of unoriginal travel brochures. This painting by Alina Hubarenko, though...this painting I can Smell. Not just the salt, but the seaweed and the rocks and the fish and the wind. Yes, it's beautiful, absolutely. But it's not just beautiful. Those subtle greens, those deep blues, and those glimpses of golden light all perfectly deliver a scene of constant, unpredictable movement. One moment, I'm captured by the peaceful bobbing of the birds. The next, I'm drawn into contemplating the darker depths and colder mysteries lying not too far beneath that sunlit surface. So, thank you, Alina. Your art takes me to a perfect place of peaceful (but not too peaceful!) contemplation. And the little "extra" you included in the package is delightful. It arrived undamaged and is propped up right next to my laptop. (A note to any curious readers of this review: the painting is called "3 waves, 2 birds, 1 love" and it can still be viewed here on Artfinder on Alina Hubarenko's page. And don't hesitate to buy one of Alina's paintings. She ships extremely fast and takes great care with the packaging. You won't be disappointed.)
