About Alfred Ng

  • Biography

I was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Toronto. When I was in Hong Kong and about six years old, I came upon my teenage neighbor practicing her Chinese ink painting. Her kind influence enlightened my interests. Every day after school I would spend all of my spare time making art. I would paint and draw to amuse myself, glad to know now that my childhood interests would stay with me forever.

In 1973 my family moved to Toronto where I attended and graduated from Central Technical School, and the Ontario College of Art and Design.

For more than 35 years, I have worked full time as an artist. Although I am known throughout my career for my award winning watercolors, I have recently expanded my creativity to include paper cutting, sculpture, recycled art and photography.

My art is my love, with my inspiration coming from my family history, people I have met, places I have been to and the beautiful things I enjoy.
