Biography
I was born in the North of England but spent my primary school years in Italy. Since then I’ve had the travel bug. I’ve taught English in rural China for a year, volunteered six months on a kibbutz in Israel, before spending several months hiking through the Australian bush. Last year I walked Land End to John o’Groats, 1200 miles over 72 days, raising £4000 for the local charity Wilmslow Wells for Africa while carrying my life on my back. I’ve often felt that artist needs to see and experience as much of the world as possible in order to paint it.
I have no main subject. I love to paint portraits, figurative works just as much as I enjoy painting animals and still lifes. I guess my major passion in the medium itself. Oil paints have richness in colour and texture that I haven’t found in any other medium. Rather than be thought of as a portrait or still life artist I’d rather be known for my ability to use oil paints in a traditional and skilled manner to convey any subject which takes my fancy.
If you have any questions about a painting please contact me, either through Artfinder or my website, I'd love you to get in touch. Your support means a lot, and I love it when I get to post my work to all these wonderful far away places. I have a map covering my shed ceiling with every place I've sent a painting and its the best feeling in the world adding a mark.
