Alex has studied art since 2007, and watercolors have become an obsession.
Influences and inspirations include such classic master artists as J.M.W. Turner, Andrew Wyeth, John Singer Sargent, Whistler, Homer, and more. Contemporary masters who are much admired include Thomas Schaller, Roger Whitlock, Jean Haines, John Lovett, Josepth Zbukvic, and others. The list could be long, indeed, as there is so much talent out there.
Alex was born in New York City but grew up in DC. She was a research scientist (mathematician, actually) for over 40 years (specializing in Ocean Acoustics over the past 30 plus years). Her art does not seem to reflect this past life at all. Perhaps a good thing...
Alex is an award winning watercolorist and a member of the Art League of Alexandria, the Maryland Federation of Art Society (MFA), the McLean Art Society (MAS), and the American Watercolor Society (AWS).
Alex is married to photographer Ron Colbroth who is a constant source of enthusiasm, creativity, and encouragement.
Alex's work is in private collections and has been or will be seen in the Torpedo Factory (Art League of Alexandria) and various other locations in the DC area. Her work is now also at the US embassy in Barbados.
