About Alessandra
Biography
I’m a mixed media artist based in California. My artworks are representations of indoor and outdoor spaces that I find interesting and evoking of our psychological constructions. Objects of daily use are often my reminders of purpose and belonging.
Throughout my art-making process I enjoy creating textured surfaces with different kinds of tools; I like to use diverse mediums including molding paste, wax pastels, and paper scraps.
Art journaling has become a practice that I’m passionate about, which has taken me to explore so many possibilities. The creative process that I follow involves a spontaneous state of mind, allowing and welcoming the mistake while embracing it as the school where I learn how to solve a problem creatively. I work through the journal’s pages by incorporating mixed media techniques such as layered painting, collage, textured surfaces, stamping, stenciling, and ink illustration.
I’ve worked on each book focusing on a specific subject. Traveling among other subjects, has been a wonderful source of inspiration since culture, history, diversity, and foreign language represent a great exercise of creative expression.
To me, the relevance of making art lies in prompting a statement for people to not just decorate our walls and other spaces, (which adds identity, quality, and beauty to our places) but to talk to other people’s soul, facilitate introspection and a sense of wonder. I love that art inspires others to embrace life with better senses and an open heart. I make art and would love to improve in doing so because art is powerful enough to construct a mindset and empower change.
