I love this beautiful and unusual painting. The shape is oblong, which enhances the subject matter. The colors are muted and contribute to the feeling of coldness; not the cold of Winter, but the harsh, gray dampness of late Fall. My husband says that it reminds him of the cliffs in Maine, with water splashing against the sharp rocks. The painting projects a feeling of sadness and aloneness to me as I imagine myself somewhere within this scene.
