About Aaron Samuel Mulenga

My work explores the ideas of culture and identity through body markings on living organisms such as people and animals. In my work I also study ideas of faith and how these are expressed through people’s lives. I have been inspired by the works of Yinka Shonibare and other artists that take a keen interest in depicting a positive Afrocentric view when it comes to art. This is one reason why my artwork has African print in it, as this can be a positive reminder of the Afro identity I choose to depict in my work. I hope to engage with anyone that views my work and is interested in it by way of conversation and even further discussions on particular meanings behind the pieces I create.
