Original artwork description:

I was inspired by the skill and courage of this young F1 driver when he won his first Grand Prix in Spain. The headlines read - Watch highlights from the 1996 Spanish Grand Prix as Michael Schumacher wins his first race for Ferrari with a stunning drive in the wet in Spain. I painted this many years ago when my work took me to Monaco with a ship building company. When I returned I completed the painting based on sketches I made from TV recordings.
My colleague a sales rep, took the completed work to a gallery in Monaco who gave him an expected sale price for the work. A month later he returned to the gallery expecting to collect the fee. The manager told him ‘It takes time to sell a painting like this’, so my colleague brought the painting home.
