Artwork description:

There's an old Welsh saying, 'better my own cottage than the palace of another.' It reminded me of religions and the rich tapestry of Welsh beliefs through the long forgotten ages. I questioned myself, whether the new religions imposed on us by others were a good fit, or if we should take the religions that grew up here in the landscape of Wales from the times before and make them ours again.

With that in mind, I set to work creating this image, the idea of Revival being foremost in my mind. I tried several versions of the image, but it just wasn't working the way I wanted. I was close to giving up, but persisted, there was something in the idea that was worth fighting for.

Close to quitting, I stumbled across an image in my collection that I had previously discounted, at just the right time, and from there the image came to life on my screen. There's a revival going on, everything old is old again...
